Jacob Turner is a visiting assistant professor at Penn State’s School of Public Policy. He received his PhD in Political Science and MS in Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on how interactions between citizens, law enforcement officers, and elected policymakers impact public security policy choices and feelings of public trust and citizenship in the context of young Latin American democracies. His publications have appeared in Party Politics, Political Research Quarterly, Urban Affairs Review, and Latin American Politics and Society, among other venues. Before joining Penn State, Turner was Postdoctoral Researcher at the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil, working with the DOVE Human Development and Violence Research Centre where he helped manage and analyze data from the Pelotas Birth Cohort Study, an ongoing, population-based, prospective longitudinal study.
