Biography:

Emily Pakhtigian joins Penn State as the Jeffrey L. and Sharon D. Hyde-McCourtney Career Development Professor and as an assistant professor of public policy in fall 2020. 

Pakhtigian’s research focuses on the demand for environmental health technologies, behavioral responses to environmental risk, health consequences of ambient air pollution, and sustainable water resource management. She has studied applications in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, and the United States. 

Pakhtigian holds a B.A. in political science and economics from Moravian College, an M.A. in economics from Duke University, and a Ph.D. in public policy from the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University.
